http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatism
Historically, corporatism or corporativism (Italian: corporativismo) refers to a political or economic system in which power is given to civic assemblies that represent economic, industrial, agrarian, social, cultural, and professional groups. These civic assemblies, known as corporations (not necessarily in the same sense as contemporary business corporations) are unelected bodies with an internal hierarchy; their purpose is to exert control over their respective areas of social or economic life.

In short, the
NACC, representing private corporate interests, has been
"institutionalized" as a policy-making body, thus
formalizing and
deepening the existing patterns of influence that corporations
already have.

| http://www.destineducation.ca/intstdnt/annex-e2_e.htm WHAT ARE CANADIANS LIKE? Established in 1867 as a nation without war or rebellion, Canada has become home to people who often fled oppression and persecution. As a result, individual rights and freedoms have become highly treasured values for Canadians, have shaped our culture and are enshrined in a Charter to protect those values from violation. We speak our minds and voice our opinions, though remain open to ideas from others. We demand a free press and expect an open government. We respect authority, but it must be fair, honest and accountable to us. Canadians value creativity and support its nurturing in all walks of life. After all, our creative expressions, whether they are in the arts, literature, social or natural sciences, are a reflection of all of us. To be Canadian means to respect differences in gender, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, physical or mental abilities, and sexual orientation. We do not deny that intolerance exists in our country, but most of us are dedicated to educating people to open their minds to differences, beginning with our youngest children. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees everyone fundamental freedoms: of conscience and religion; of thought, belief, opinion and expression; of peaceful assembly; and of association. Completing these constitutional safeguards are other legislative measures, such as employment equity that ensures that Canadians have equal access to opportunity. For a country encompassing so much diversity represented by people from practically every country on the planet, we are united. The one day that brings so many Canadians together each year is our country's birthday, July 1, when tens of thousands of people crowd on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and more flock to Canada Day celebrations in other cities and communities from coast to coast and in the North. Though our patriotism may appear muted at times on the international stage, it is alive and well under various forms, such as the Canadian flags that adorn the backpacks of young travelers journeying around the globe. We are a peace-loving people, though we will defend ourselves and our friends and allies when necessary. We take the obligations and responsibilities of citizenship seriously, but love to laugh - often at our own expense, since we don't always take ourselves too seriously. |

Judge rules Canada's pot possession laws unconstitutionalLast Updated: Friday, July 13, 2007 | 8:46 PM ETA Toronto judge has ruled that Canada's pot possession laws are unconstitutional after a man argued the country's medicinal marijuana regulations are flawed.
The 29-year-old Toronto resident had been charged with possession of about 3.5 grams or roughly $45 dollars worth of marijuana. The man has no medical issues and doesn't want a medical exemption to smoke marijuana. In 2001, Health Canada implemented the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations, which allow access to marijuana to people who are suffering from grave and debilitating illnesses. In court, the man argued that the federal government only made it policy to provide marijuana to those who need it, but never made it an actual law. Because of that, he argued, all possession laws, whether medicinal or not, should be quashed. The judge agreed and dismissed the charges. |

| NOW Is the time to learn about
the SPP. A tutorial Recent list of URLS re the SPP and the North American Union Despite the deafening silence in the US and Canadian media (Have they put ANY reporters on this in the lamestream media? one wonders .. hard to find them!!) the purpose of the upcoming conference to be held in Montebello, Quebec is to ratify the Security and Prosperity Protocol (SPP) of North America, which was initiated by Bush, Martin and Fox in 2005. This so-called partnership will result in what the politicians refer to as continental integration-newspeak for a North American Union- and basically are a harmonization of 100s of regulations, policies and laws. What we have here, really, is the plan to highjack the North American continent by a very small contingent of industrialists, government cronies and thinktanks. following the clampdown after the 9/11 synthetic terror event. As the slogan says .. Security and Prosperity for WHOM? Once this partnership has been ratified as fait accompli we will be following in the footsteps of the European Union. It will mean that the US, Mexico and Canada will become part of the North American Union by 2010, and resources, agricultural, health and environment issues, to name a few, will be controlled not by the 3 Three Amigo's countries of the US, Canada and Mexico, but by the government of the North American Union. Only there is a BIG difference: you see these two little member countries needs are DWARFED by Superpower the US! It's not the same as the European Union at ALL. Europe wasn't bogged down in an era of genocide and endless war either at the start of the EU .. comparisons are not apt. Mere size of the countries alone would show that this cannot be the same. At this time, we are lead to believe that the "summit" of the elite will be discussing, or making pronouncements, on what is to be done if there is a pandemic or national emergency. What that implies, alone is cause for concern ... What's Up? The coming megolithic NAFTA highway, one quarter of a mile wide, is already being built in Texas, where private land is being expropriated, and will eventually reach the Manitoba border and go on from there ... it allows the west coast shipping ports to be circumvented, instead relying on huge Mexican port, in the name of facilitating "free trade" . but free trade of what ..? Asian drugs ..? And how is that port to be defended? Water (the new gold) will be the issue of this century, as more than 25 states in the U.S. are currently in desperate need. Where do you think they will get the water they need? Canada claims 20% of the world's fresh water "reserves"!! and plans to get it out where developed IN SECRET by the Center for Strategic and International Affairs in Washington DC; they very people who brought you the shock and awe technique used in bombing Iraq into submission. Just who is deciding who gets the resources as they dwindle ..? The United States is already guaranteed 60% of Canadian natural gas resources from NAFTA, which mean that even during emergencies when Canadians need energy that cannot have it. This is somewhat perplexing since Canada only has nine (9) years of PROVABLE gas supplies for itself. Canada is asked to import it! in case of shortage ... This is just one example of how Canada is being shortchanged, and its only going to get worse. Even people in Harper's own Conservative party are aghast at this, which was only revealed in Parliament by Gordon Laxer - and the committee Chairman walked out in protest of his testimony!! -- a first in Canadian history. So much for government transparency. When will the truth be told? Mexico is so far exempted out of the energy equation; they are in control of the energy part of the 'protocol' and have a state run cartel. As Linda McQuaig author of It's about the Crude, Dude: Greed, Gas, War and the American Way points out, PM Harper's stand on giving away Canada's resources is DEEPLY troubling - He talked about CONTINENTAL energy in London, saying that Canada would be "self serving" to keep this energy for itself. He is paid to protect Canada resources. Any wonder that Canadians are wondering that perhaps their Prime Minister is advocating treason ..? What would happen if the roles were reversed . would American be "self serving" to hang onto ITS resources if Canada had an emergency? Linda's books are worth a deep read: try Holding the Bully's Coat: Canada and the US Empire as well. Canada's elite are rapidly embracing American Values ... This is NAFTA plus Homeland Security and only "the elite" get the advantage. But there is more WAY more than just this. Are are we to find out what is going on? Way too many questions Canada is in charge of the presentations on border equalization while the US holds the hand dealing out cards on trade regulation. Hmmm. People who are "in the know" in Canada are are baffled and asking an obvious question these days: Why has there been absolutely NO public consultation on the biggest issue (North American Union) facing Canadians since Confederation? And where is the US CONgress on this issue? With the single exception of a House vote on a transport issue, everything is quiet. Too quiet ... What has happened to democracy? ... or maybe more accurately .. why have we devolved into demo-craaaazee? |
